This painting is of a gorgeous little owl named Booey, who is a resident at Capes Raptor Centre, having been rescued as a baby. I was kindly allowed to meet him close up and to take many reference photos. It was such a wonderful experience for me! 
 
I am fascinated with owls, they are so meaningful to me, representing a connection to my intuition and soul. While creating this painting, I wanted to express the reverence and awe I feel for these majestic birds. 
 
The plants surrounding the owl are all based on my collection of local flora. 
 
I love this painting - it has such a presence in any room, with the dark blues perfectly contrasting the warm ochres and browns of the feathers. 
 
This painting is 61 x 61 cm with 35mm edges on stretched canvas. Painted in oils.
 
Signed on the back and front. 
Ready to hang with wire and 2 x D-ring hanging options fixed to the back. The sides and back have been painted a matching dark blue.
